About Us

Nicholas Maryns

Co-Founder and Managing Director

Nick is particularly passionate about helping nonprofits, foundations, and government use evidence-based approaches to uncover insights and drive continuous improvement. An educator at heart, Nick uses his experience as a writer and graphic designer to illuminate complex ideas through simple, intuitive design that engages an array of audiences.Prior to InsightWorks, Nick served as the Associate Director of the Governor’s Workforce Development Council. Nick facilitated the Council's policy development initiatives and coordinated strategic projects across state agencies, while handling research, writing, and strategic communications. He oversaw the Council’s Net Impact Initiative, which developed a performance evaluation framework for workforce education and training programs and contributed to policy efforts that helped make such evaluations mandatory for the sake of program improvement.Prior to the GWDC, Nick was a fellow at the Congressional Hunger Center in Washington, DC and a two-year AmeriCorps volunteer with College Possible at Camden High School (formerly Patrick Henry) in North Minneapolis. He graduated summa cum laude with distinction in Mathematics from St. Olaf College and holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he was a Public Service Fellow.

Dr. Raymond Robertson

Co-Founder and Principal

In addition to his role at InsightWorks, Raymond is a professor in the Department of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, where he holds the Helen and Roy Ryu Chair in Economics and Government. He is also a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor in Bonn, Germany.Raymond earned a BA in political science and economics from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and an MS and PhD in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has taught at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and was a visiting professor in the Department of Economics at the Graduate School of Administration, Monterrey Institute of Technology’s Mexico City campus.Widely published in the field of labor economics and international economics, Raymond currently chairs the US Department of Labor’s National Advisory Committee for Labor Provisions of the US Free Trade Agreements and is a member of the Center for Global Development’s advisory board.
